The Hawaii Police Department has added to its website a link to a service that allows victims and witnesses to be notified when undocumented foreign nationals are released from the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Hawaii Police Department has added to its website a link to a service that allows victims and witnesses to be notified when undocumented foreign nationals are released from the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Police said undocumented foreign nationals are deported to their country of origin after being released from state or federal prison. In the interim, ICE typically takes the aliens into custody. When an alien is released from ICE custody or deported, the Victim Notification Program can alert eligible victims and witnesses who have signed up for notification about that specific person.
This notification program is separate from the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification program that allows citizens to monitor the status of Hawaii inmates in jail or prison.
